Below is a reference chart for TV
Antenna Pre-amplifiers. They are listed
according to the type of input, then
sorted by VHF gain. Remember, it is not
always necessary to have the highest
gain pre-amplifier available - it is
better to have the correct gain for your
transmission levels and TV antenna
model.
Please note that if you are using a 300
Ohm input pre-amplifier, it is feasible
to remove the balun (pigtail /
transformer) from the antenna and
connect the 300 Ohm lead directly to the
pre-amplifier. This technique would
eliminate insertion loss due to the
balun connection. Be sure to check the
input connection type for each
pre-amplifier. Some have a 300 Ohm input
and other have a 75 Ohm type input. (See
picture to right highlighting 300 Ohm
and 75 Ohm connections) |
