How do I get local HD Detroit programming from
DIRECTV?
Getting set up to receive the new local
programming from DIRECTV is simple, however the
process depends on whether or not you already
subscribe to DIRECTV. If you do not currently
subscribe, we can set-up an installation for
your new DIRECTV system rather quickly, see
below to the left if you DO NOT already
subscribe to DIRECTV. If you are a current
customer, we have the new equipment required to
receive the HD local programming (see below to
the right for details).

Current DIRECTV subscribers need
to purchase an upgraded high
definition satellite receiver to
be able to view the HD local
programming. Even if you
currently have an HD receiver in
your system, you will still need
to purchase an upgraded unit.
The new
HD DIRECTV
HD receiver, the H20
(shown below) is available for
purchase for those subscribers
who live in and around Detroit,
Michigan. (more

This is because the new local HD
programming is broadcast on a
different satellite in the sky
and in a different compression
format (MPEG-4 vs MPEG-2 in the
earlier models)
Because of the format change,
you'll also need to upgrade your
satellite dish antenna to the
new
Ka/Ku Band dish. We have
them available for purchase.

There are three basic steps to
purchasing a DIRECTV system from Solid
Signal
(1)
Choose a DIRECTV system. Whether you
pick a pre-configured or custom build
your own, you must complete the order
via our web site or by calling our toll
free number and speaking with a
representative. All new DIRECTV
subscribers must agree to a minimum
1-year service agreement at time of
purchase.
(2)
After order completion, an installation
coordinator will contact you via phone
to confirm the order. During this time,
we will be shipping out your entire
DIRECTV system to the contracted
installation company. There is no need
watch for shipping carrier to deliver
your package - the equipment is sent
directly to the installer to bring to
your home on the day of installation!

On date of installation, the installer
will arrive at your home to install your
system. The installer will install
the dish and receivers according to
details of standard installation
outlines. Both of you will speak with
DIRECTV by phone at this time to
activate your receivers and decide on a
programming option. Please take a look
at
DIRECTV's programming choices prior
to installation day. Typical purchase
date to time of installation is
approximately 6-7 business days.
Each DIRECTV of the three main programming
packages have a set price. Additional charges
for movie packages, DVRs, additional rooms, etc
may be applied if your system requires them. The
