Effective March 1, 2006 DIRECTV®
will be moving to a "Customer Equipment Lease"
program for both new and existing DIRECTV®
subscribers. The biggest impact on you as a
DIRECTV subscriber is any satellite receiver
purchased after 02/28/2006 will be required to
be returned to DIRECTV upon subscription
cancellation under the new lease program
agreement. See below for changes. |
The Protection Plan will continue to be
available to all customers once the lease
program is implemented. While the lease program
will provide replacement and upgrade hardware
via drop shipment to customers ($14.95 shipping
and handling fee applies), the Protection Plan
covers in-home service calls as well as the
shipping costs for replacement hardware.
Starting March 1, 2006, DIRECTV has standardized
the price of its Protection Plan to only
$5.99/month, regardless of type of hardware.
This new pricing is available to any customer,
new or existing, who has not previously
subscribed to the Protection Plan. Benefits of
customers subscribing to the Protection Plan at
time of their activation are:
