Digital TV Stations
Broadcasting on VHF
While the vast majority of high
definition television is broadcast over
the UHF band, 9% of the total digital TV
stations in the United States utilize
the VHF band for their broadcasts. A
look at the numbers reveals the
following:
-
76 markets have one or more digital
station broadcasting in the VHF band
-
16 markets have 2 or more
-
4 markets have 3 or more
-
1 market has 5 VHF channels (Las
Vegas)
Since most of our UHF antennas will
capture high frequency VHF signals
(Channels 7-13), we typically only
recommend using VHF antennas to capture
the low end of the VHF band (Channels
2-6). Occasionally, a VHF capable
antenna may also be required on channels
7 and 8. For your convenience
we have highlighted these 34 channels
(channels 2-8) in red
in the following list of all of the VHF
Digital Stations.
