Device works well, but battery life is shorter than advertised.

by

Magnets are strong - I placed it under my car when I lent my car to my girlfriend for a few days - and sure enough, I found out that she was cheating on me while driving my new car! I did not confront her - just gradually broke it off. I did not want any hassles about tracking her. This device saved me from making a serious mistake and marrying this girl. The magnets are very strong. I covered the green light with some black electrical tape so it would not show at all at night. It took a couple of tries to get the computer to recognize it - but the software is fantastic. It shows the car moving down the street and the time of day, etc. It can be off by about 100 yards though - it is not real precise - so be aware of this. It works very well under the car - I placed it about a foot inside the car perimeter under the passenger door and sort of behind a steel support member built into my car. It was out of sight and still worked fine. Once in a while it lost signal, but it worked very well most of the time. Battery life is not what they advertise though - plan on 48 hours max even with those super long life batteries - probably less with standard batteries, but I only used those long life ones. As the batteries start to get weaker, there are gaps in the signal and it seems like it is less precise in location. I consider it a great investment. Take care where you use it though - some states are passing privacy laws and you can get yourself in a lot of trouble if you are not careful and you put it on someone else's car and they find it. But frankly, it would be hard to find unless you suspected you were being tracked. I figured I was ok, since it was my own car. I recommend this thing if you have any doubts about where your car, or your kid's car is really going.
