Use the My DIRECTV Setup Menu to Verify Your DIRECTV Satellite Dish

Identifying your DIRECTV satellite dish antenna will help you know whether or not changes are needed. It sounds like a daunting task but it’s not hard. Here’s a simple guide to get you through checking your dish setup. The only tool you’ll need is your remote control.

Step 1 - Press MENU to enter the DIRECTV menu system

Start by pressing the {MENU} button. You’ll see the MY DIRECTV menu as shown to the left. If all you want to do is check your setup, it’s easy to do.

Step 2- Arrow down to Settings and Help

Arrow down to “Settings & Help” and press {SELECT}.

Step 3 - Press Select on Settings

Then, with “Settings” highlighted, press {SELECT} again.

Step 4 - Arrow to More System Info

With “Info&Test” highlighted, press {SELECT.} Arrow down to “More System Info” and press {SELECT} again.

Step 5 - Confirm your SWM Status

You’ll see a lot of information. If you have a Single Wire Multiswitch (SWM) you’ll see lines for SWM Firmware version and SWM Library Version. If you don’t have a SWM, you won’t see these items.

Step 6 - Verify Your DIRECTV Satellite Dish Type

Press the {CHAN/PAGE Down} button. On the next screen you’ll see the dish type.
When you’re done, arrow over to “OK” and press {SELECT.} Then press {EXIT} to return to live TV.
