Installation fairly straightforward. Instructions on fine tuning could be better. Colorado Dan - Peyton, CO - 7/25/2018 12:55:40 PM I bought the SL3/SWM combo so I could take my Genie from home in the Colorado Springs area to our cabin in Freemont County. I did some research and found out all the channels I get were on 99-101-103 so the SL3/SWM should work. I got the model with the braces because it gets very windy there.
The dish assembly was straight forward. I purchased a 29 volt power supply but found out I could have used the Genie to power the LNB/SWM.
I used the settings on the satellite setup page to set the tilt and elevation for my zip code. I made sure the mount was exactly level. I did the rough aiming by swiveling the dish around the azimuth suggested on the receiver but saw no signal. I moved the dish back and forth and finally got a signal. I peaked it and tightened the main azimuth bolts.
The instructions for doing the fine tuning seemed to be for an older mount. I finally figured out I had to tighten the bolt on the elevation fine tuning knob and loosen the main elevation bolts.
The azimuth fine tuning screw works without loosening anything. I did the peaking and dither method on both azimuth and elevation using sat 101 as Directv recommends. My signal levels are better than my professionally installed dish at home.
It's great having TV in the mountains. I got an extra remote and power supply so all I have to bring is the box when I go to the cabin.
Easy to install and align gsfitzsr - Humble, TX - 3/28/2013 Instructions were easy to follow but I would recommend using SWM installation instructions from DirecTV. Once installed and rough aligned signals were good enough to use signal meters in DirecTV unit for closer alignment. I did use another meter later to perform dithering adjustments.
