Fantastically satisfied, get it if you';re within Chicago';s city limits Chicago John - Chicago, IL - 2/23/2014 4:21:21 AM According to Antennaweb, I';m 6.3 miles from the broadcast area. I bought the Wineguard to replace a huge VHF/UHF arrow-shaped antenna that was mounted on a 10 foot boom, that had a couple of broken elements. Naturally, I was skeptical that a much smaller and compact UHF/ hi band VHF would do the trick. But the Wineguard actually dramatically improved my reception according to the strength meter on my television, with a much smaller and stable footprint. Two nitpicky things: As mentioned, the instructions are pretty horrible. Wineguard could print a second page, include a couple more drawings, and make it a lot easier. Secondly, the matching transformer lug broke while attaching it. I was lucky enough to have the old matching transformer handy, and used that instead.
Still; what an upgrade!
compact size Jimmy - Raleigh, NC - 3/31/2014 9:50:54 AM This unit does OK I am 3'; off my roof with a rotor & winegard pre-amp. Surprising enough VHF responds better off the back than the front. I have VHF channels up to 80 miles.UHF is pretty good few drop outs I found a way to secure the UHF wings so they won';t unlock & better wind survival. I agree with the other review the matching transformer leaves a lot to be desired. Channel Master makes a better transformer with stiff wire instead of cheap lug design.
