The meter served it's purpose, but it couldn't attenuate the signal enough for peaking. Philstar - Boise, ID - 8/7/2015 12:02:05 AM I used this meter between my Directv SWM-16 and my 5 LNB dish. The 22kHz and H/V indicator lights worked well to know which of the 4 cables was which, because I was a good distance from the SWM-16. The only complaint I have is that I could still rail out this signal to the max with the attenuation knob set to the minimum (lowest value). As a result, I couldn't peak either the elevation or the azimuth measurement. I had to turn each measurement to find the falloff point in one direction and then find the equal falloff point on the opposite side. I then set the dish to average of the two settings. This procedure is known as dithering and is recommended for the azimuth measurement.
Although it would have been nice if the attenuation could be set low enough so that the signals wouldn't rail out to the positive value, this is just a minor complaint. My Directv has had horrible reception since it was originally installed (the installer was horrible), and it has been great ever since I adjusted it with this meter. If you have the 5-LNB, 4 output Directv dish, this meter will help you aim it. I'm basically certain it WON'T work with the 1 output SWM LNB. If you plan to adjust the dish yourself, I recommend using the procedure provided by Directv (posted by solidsignal). It worked well for me.
