Watch local sports, news and network TV shows for free with the Antennas Direct C5. An alternative to cable TV that allows you to watch network and local TV for free. It is easier than you think to cut the cord from cable. Get over the air TV channels for free with an OTA TV antenna. The most popular HDTV channels are all available with an HDTV antenna.
Incorporating the same compact engineering which distinguishes the ClearStream family, the C5 is targeted specifically for the high VHF band. (Ch7-13 ; 174 -216 MHz). Purposely built for high VHF, the ClearStream 5’s efficient, compact design offers excellent gain and impedance matching across the whole post 2009 VHF DTV spectrum. The ClearStream 5 is superior to existing combination antennas for receiving VHF DTV signals and offering good directivity with a peak gain of 8.4 dBi.
90% efficient at 200 MHz 100% compatible with all ATSC tuners
Smallest high gain VHF antenna on the market
New Engineering for core VHF DTV frequencies (Ch 7-13)
Easy to Assemble
This leap forward in efficient design allows up
to 90% of the available broadcast signal to actually reach the incoming antenna
cable rather than being lost to impedance mismatches. They are engineered for
extra strength and durability, using powder coated aluminum for corrosion
resistance and are easy to assemble. Intended to complement existing
UHF antennas, the C5 will include a low loss UHF/VHF signal
With 24% of the American DTV stations moving to a
high VHF assignment there exists a need for high VHF antenna that is compact
yet powerful.174- 216 MHz (Channels 7 -13)

Frequently Asked Questions
this a digital antenna? Analog and digital signals are
broadcast on VHF and UHF frequencies, so all antennas can pick up digital
signals. Its more a matter of getting an antenna that covers the frequencies
that your stations are broadcast on (VHF/UHF). This is a bit confusing when
manufacturers list an antenna as "Digital Ready", or "HD
Antenna", but whether they are labeled this way or not, all antennas have
How much signal will I lose if I put
this in my attic? You will lose 40-50% of your signal
strength when placing an antenna in an attic that is covered by plywood and
asphalt shingles. Even more signal is lost with foil covered insulation, metal
roofs and concrete structures. Beyond a range of 30-35 miles an attic installation
is generally not recommended. Because of the high signal loss of an attic
installation, an antenna with twice the range is needed to receive the same
amount of signal. Digital reception has a much higher threshold of signal
strength than analog reception.
Do I need a
rotator? It depends on how wide a direction your antenna
covers. This feature is called the beam width. The average antenna has a beam
width of 35 degrees, out of 360. Go to a site like www.tvfool.com or www.antennaweb.org and
look at the compass orientation. If the difference in degrees between
all your desired stations is great than your antennas beam width, then you will
need a rotator. Keep in mind that larger antennas that have a boom length over
131 inches need a rotator that can withstand the windload and torque we suggest
What is the difference between a directional,
multidirectional and omnidirectional antenna? Directional
antennas pick up from a narrow direction usually around 40 degrees wide out of
360 and is best for long range reception. Multidirectional antennas have a wide
beam width usually 60-90 degrees, allowing them to receive stations that are
coming from multiple directions. Omnidirectional antennas receive signal from
all directions, and have the shortest range.

Recent Review: Hal - Redmond, WA - 11/8/2013 Excellent in attic antenna
Excellent in attic antenna Hal - Redmond, WA - 11/8/2013 11:39:57 PM I am about 13 miles from the TV stations and on the back side of a hill. My antennas are in the attic. So I really needed a good antenna. The main channels I am trying to receive are 4, 5, 7 and 9. 4, 5 and 7 are UHF and 9 is VHF. I have a DB4e for UHF and a Clear Stream 5 (CS5) for VHF. The CS5 came with a combiner to combine the two antennas together. Both the DB4e and the CS5 recieve well and fit well in the attic. Each antenna is mounted on a T hung from the rafters with a swivel joint, so I can turn the antenna and aim it at the transmitter. On bad days, I can';t watch channel 7, but the problem is the signal not the antenna. It seems to have more to do with wind than with rain. I tried adding a PA18 amplifier, but it made no improvement.
TV Signal Strength Meter vs Weather Conditions
Weather Conditions: no wind or rain
UHF DB4e - Aimed at Ch 4 CH 4: 100% Good picture CH 5: 80-90% Good picture CH 7: 70% Good picture
VHF CS5 - Aimed at Ch 9 CH 9: 70% Good picture
Weather Condition: Rainy and windy
UHF DB4e - Aimed at Ch 4 CH 4: 90-100% Good picture CH 5: 80-90% Good picture CH 7: 40-70% Not watchable
VHF CS5 - Aimed at Ch 9 CH 9: 70% Good picture
No Huge Yagi Harlequin Engin - Livermore, more CA - 3/28/2013 I wanted to get away from a huge Yagi Chan 2-84 antenna (huge wind load and hard to turn.) I am using the AD C5 with an AD C4 UHF into a combiner and then into AD CPA-19 pre-amp. The combination works very well.Distance to the transmitting antennas are between 40-50 miles and the local multi-path is pretty bad so depending on time of day the reception can become spotty on the weaker signals.I
very good antenna jrail - sacramento ca., sacramento ca. - 12/4/2011 have owned this antenna for several months now and am pleased with it. i have it combined with a 91xg uhf antenna along with a cpa19 pre amp and a centronics rotor. one channel (7) is 100 miles away and comes in with absolute regularity. i also use an atenuator (1296f) to dial down the signal if needed or up for that matter. i find this increases signal strength by as much as 10-15% im using 100
Works well Noname - CA, CA - 3/28/2013 Ive set this up in my attic and am pickup signals from +90 miles away without preamps or filters. I just want to pick up the networks for a couple games and local news. Some signals come and go with conditions but overall Im pleased.
Solid performance Jacob - Santa Barbara, anta Barbara - 1/6/2011 Ive installed this antenna in my attic and am pleased. It was very easy to assemble and install and pulls a solid signal but the signal is a little weaker at the top of the spectrum (Ch. 11-13). I like it for its simple setup and installation combined with a nice compact size/shape. I find I dont fiddle with it.
Low Db Gain Again - Colonial Beach, VA - 7/1/2014 8:49:53 AM Says 15 db gain when actually is 7.6 db vhf 4.9 db uhf. Connector broke circuit board for Impedance match, solder connections, now works, but no 15 db gain as claimed.
Medium range antenna AV Batman - Denison, TX - 3/28/2013 This antenna is great for places where you cannot place a large direction antenna. However it does not replace the recpetion ability of large directional antennas. If you have clear paths to distant transmitters then you can expect 100+ miles. But it will not perform well if there are too many obstacles.
