Are you a DIRECTV customer who wants to know more about coax networking? Solid Signal has what you need to know about DIRECTV MRV/SWV/DECA receiver compatibility.
When it comes to compatibility, all current DIRECTV receivers work with SWM technology and let you share programs. If you use older legacy equipment, those receivers might need a special setup in order to work with newer technology. In some cases, you’ll need a DIRECTV Ethernet Coaxial Adapter, also known as a DECA unit, which converts Ethernet to coax. A DECA unit connects one end to your satellite cable and the other end connects to both the coaxial and Ethernet cables to the receiver. The following receivers will use a DECA to convert the coax network signal to an Ethernet one:
- THR22 (TiVo)
If your receiver is older than those above or is a standard definition receiver, it should have a band stop filter. This will prevent the strong networking signal from damaging your older receiver. If you use a DECA on any newer receiver, it won’t work. As a general rule, if your device has a flat, touchscreen front or a front panel with no buttons, it doesn’t need a DECA.
