Get Free TV As Easy As 1-2-3

Do you want to cut the cord and get free HDTV but don’t know how?  With our help, becoming a cord-cutter is as easy as 1-2-3.

Now is the time for everyone to cut the cord on cable TV.  It starts with the decision to do away with those costly monthly bills, and it ends with you enjoying all the free TV in your media market.  In between are three important steps: getting the right TV antenna, getting a compatible TV set, and installing your antenna.  If you’re not a do-it-yourselfer, installing an antenna might seem a bit intimidating.  It’s easier than you might think, and Solid Signal is here to help you every step of way.

Step One: Get the Right TV Antenna

If you want to cut the cord on cable TV, you’ll need a TV antenna.  The device lets you to watch all the free TV that’s available in your media market.  There are two types of TV antennas – indoor and outdoor – that you can use.  The type of antenna you need depends upon how far you live from the broadcast towers, the local terrain, and a few other factors.

Indoor TV antenna: If you live within 15 miles of your local TV transmitters, there’s a good chance that an indoor TV antenna is what you’ll need.  Solid Signal carries a wide variety of indoor TV antennas to help you achieve the best reception.

Outdoor TV Antenna: If you live more than 15 miles from your local TV station transmitters, an outdoor TV antenna might be for you.  These antennas are usually mounted upon the roof of your home.  We carry a large selection of outdoor TV antennas for anyone who wants to cut the cord.

Step Two: Have a Compatible TV

To watch free HDTV with your TV antenna, you’ll need the right TV set.  Cord-cutters have one of three choices to watch free TV:

  1. HDTV: Any LCD, plasma, or LED TV with the word “HDTV” somewhere on the unit.
  2. TV with Converter Box: If you still have an analog TV, you can use a converter box to watch OTA TV.
  3. Laptop or Computer: If you purchase a USB TV tuner, you can watch TV on your PC.

Step Three: TV Antenna Installation

Once you’ve chosen your TV antenna, we recommend putting it atop your roof. (Assuming you’ve purchased an outdoor TV antenna.)  Generally speaking, the highest point atop your roof is usually the best place for an antenna to get signal.  (Attic installs cut your estimated reception range in half.)  A couple things to consider about TV antenna installation:

  1. Existing wiring form old cable or satellite installations can be used to distribute TV antenna signal.
  2. Splitters are used to divide the signal to multiple TV  receivers.

Your Custom Cable Solution

When you’re installing a TV antenna, you’re going to use cable.  Solid Signal carries a huge selection of coaxial and extension cables from top cable makers.  We also can make custom cable lengths and configurations for you.  We’ll put on weather-tight compression fittings for long-lasting connections, even outdoors.  We also offer select cable by the foot

Mounts for Antenna Installation

TV antenna mounts allow you to secure your antenna to your roof, eaves, or similar location atop your home, garage, or other structure.  Because we carry a wide variety of TV antennas, we also carry a wide variety of TV antenna mounts.  Each of these mounts offers a variety of features and benefits when it’s time to cut the cord and install your TV antenna. Here are the types of TV antenna mounts we carry:

Wall Mounts: These TV antenna mounts use two brackets that brace the pole to the side of your home.  This is about as simple as it gets.

Tripod MountsThese TV antenna mounts are great for roof peaks and flat roofs.  These are the most popular mount for antennas.

Chimney Mounts: These mounts use two adjustable straps that tighten down around the chimney.

J-MountsThis mount features an adjustable arm and is used with lightweight TV antennas.  A J-mount doesn’t require a mast.  These are great to use under the eaves of your home.
