Works well, Assemble with Care

by

Good antenna requires careful assembly. Note that full 150-174 bandwidth not possible. Must select region of interest. Spec indicates 1.3 MHz bandwidth for transmit but decent reception was achieved over 10 MHz bandwidth with 155 MHz center frequency. Boosted scanner receiver signals well above omni antenna levels. Carefully measure, mark, and cut each element symmetrically at both ends with rotary pipe cutter to tune antenna center frequency. Magnify the very small chart provided to visually interpret lengths more accurately. Setting gamma match element to "starting point" mechanical position in instructions was good enough as I had no means to tune it. Tighten threaded element bolt/nut asymetrically to pull elements to one side of boom for firm electrical contact. Otherwise the elements will float on only the threads of the bolts. No polar plot was provided which would have been helpful.
