Description

RLP Series Rack Mount Power Supplies Premium Features All RLP Series power supplies are enclosed in a ventilated, gold iridite aluminum chassis. The front panels are powder coated aluminum with cutouts for rack mounting. The output connections are 1/4" threaded studs with nuts. This lightweight, corrosion resistant, and excellent heat dissipation.

This rack mount has a large scale Volt/Amp meter with selector switch and front-mounted ON/OFF switch. A charge status LED is provided when optional charger features are included. AC input voltage is automatically selected from 90-264 VAC / 50-60Hz and provides stable input when AC main power fluctuates. This is excellent for domestic and export sales to countries with older power grids. Models with smart charging (SC option) must be manually set to either 110 or 220 position.

RLP Series Rack Mount's SC selector switch is on side of cabinet, no disassembly required, PFC (power factor correction), a feature that only applies to AC circuits. It is the ratio of real power (watts) delivered to apparent power VOLT AMPS (VA) or Kilo-volt amps (KVA). In AC circuits, the voltage is a sine wave and the current (amps) is also a sine wave. For maximum power to be delivered, the two sine waves must be in correct phase or lock step.' If the two are not in phase, the AC voltage will peak before or after the AC current.

This out-of-step condition will reduce the real power that can be delivered to and used by the load. The ratio of real to apparent power is the POWER FACTOR which is expressed in a decimal or a percentage. If the real power is 70 watts, but the V/A is 100, the PF is 0.7 or 70%. For example, an incandescent lamp has a PF of .97 or better. An AC motor is typically 0.75 to 0.8. A low PF will cause excessively high current (amps) and heating of the load. Power factor correction maintains a high PF allowing more efficient use of electricity, resulting in lower power costs and longer component life.
